Antidesma erostre - Native Currant. Native to Nth Qld, the native currant is a small to medium bushy shrub, reaching 3-5 m high with a spread of 1.5m.

during Summer large, grape-like clusters of fruit hang in bunches and ripen unevenly. Berries start out a pinkish white and darken to red and black as their sweet flavours develop. They can be enjoyed raw or used in jams, jellies, sour sauces, syrups, desserts and wines. Extremely hardy and fast growing with flushes of red new growth it is a worthy addition to any garden or bushfood plot.
